Advanced Dirt Resistance

Specialized polymers cross-link to provide a tough, non-stick surface, helping to prevent dirt adhesion.

Paint Chalking

As a coat of paint degrades over time, a layer of chalky residue can form and transfer onto clothes and skin.

When prepping for your exterior paint project, covering these surfaces can be challenging as paint does not always easily adhere to chalky surfaces. This may require you to power wash and apply a primer before painting.

MARQUEE Tackles Chalky Surfaces Head-On

BEHR MARQUEE Exterior's superior adhesion makes painting over chalky surfaces simpler. By eliminating the additional step of using a separate primer, just power wash the surface and apply 2 coats of Marquee Exterior for optimal durability.

How to Prep with MARQUEE Exterior vs Leading Competitor

MARQUEE Exterior

  • Power wash the surface (wait to dry)
  • Apply Marquee (2 coats for optimal durability)

Leading Competitor

  • Power wash the surface (wait to dry)
  • Apply a specialized primer (2+ coats, wait to fully cure)
  • Apply top-coat (2 coats for optimal durability)

    Application

    • Apply product on dry substrates when air and surface temperatures are between 2°-32°C and will remain between 2°-32°C for at least 4 hours after applying.
    • Allow paint film to dry for at least 60 minutes prior to rain showers when temperatures are between 15°-21° C and 60-70% relative humidity. Lower temperatures, higher humidity or deep colours may increase dry time and/or rain resistance time.
    • Stir paint occasionally. Intermix containers of same product to ensure colour and sheen uniformity.
    • On semi-smooth surfaces, use a high quality 10-13 mm nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or an airless sprayer (.015 -.021" spray tip, 60 mesh filter).
    • On rough surfaces, use a high quality 19-25 mm nap roller cover.
    • Do not thin if using a roller or brush; however, if using a sprayer and thinning is required, thin with water at a rate of no more than 250 mL per 3.79 L
    • Certain colours may require more than one coat for complete hide.
    • On heavy stains and woods that contain tannins, allow 12-16 hours of dry time between coats.
    • After 4 weeks, cured paint film may be cleaned with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent. Dry paint film is mildew resistant.
    • When applying to vinyl, colour choice must be the same colour or lighter than the existing colour.
    • Do not use on floors.
