CAUTION: Surface may be slippery when wet.

PROTECT FROM FREEZING. Do Not Use Without the Addition of Tinting Colourants.

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is required.

FOR STRIPPED, UNSTAINED OR RAW WOOD:

Before starting, the surface must be dry, clean and free of dirt, grease, and glue.
Sand the wood in the direction of the grain using fine-grade sandpaper (#150-220 grit) until smooth.
Remove all sanding dust.
To help ensure uniform acceptance of stain colour and beautiful results, pretreat new or raw wood with BEHR® Water-Based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner, following label directions.

FOR PREVIOUSLY FINISHED WOOD THAT IS NOT BEING STRIPPED:

Before starting, the surface must be dry, clean and free of dirt, grease, and glue.
Lightly sand the existing finish with 400 grit sandpaper to ensure adhesion.
Remove all sanding dust.

PRODUCT PREPARATION AND COLOUR TESTING

Stir BEHR Stain & Poly In One thoroughly before and occasionally during use. Do not thin.
Always test Stain & Poly on a scrap piece or hidden area of wood to verify desired colour.

Application

Using a high-quality nylon/polyester bristle brush, dip approximately an inch into the can, gently tapping it against the inside to remove any excess.
Apply a very THIN, even coat following the direction of the grain.
Make sure to maintain a “wet” edge.
To minimize the brush marks and bubbles after staining, tip off the surface by holding the brush at a 45-degree angle and lightly run the bristles over the entire length of the wood.
Let the first coat dry for 1 hour or more.
Dry time may be extended due to high humidity, low temperatures, and inadequate ventilation or if the coat is applied too thick.
Lightly sand the surface between coats with fine sandpaper (#400 grit).
Remove all dust. Brush on a second thin coat following directions above.
To deepen the colour, apply a third coat.
NOTE: For additional protection, without adding colour, add a coat of BEHR Fast Drying Polyurethane.

WARRANTY

LIMITED WARRANTY: For one year from the date of purchase, Behr Paint Company warrants to the original consumer purchaser, (1) that the product meets Behr Paint Company manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label within one year from the date of purchase, Behr Paint Company will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. The clause of limitation of liability which follows is inapplicable in Quebec. This warranty excludes (1) labour and costs of labour for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. The above provisions are not intended to operate where prohibited by law. This limited warranty is the only warranty provided by Behr Paint Company unless extended by a provincial consumer statute.
