We believe we share a responsibility, both as a company and as individual citizens, to support positive change and growth in the communities where we work and live, and to conduct business in a manner that safeguards our environment. These beliefs reflect our overarching commitment to doing the right thing.
We encourage our team members to make a difference in their communities by giving their time, expertise, and resources to support causes that matter to them.
Behr Cares Volunteer Program
Established in 2003, our volunteer program provides team members 8 hours paid time annually to serve a charitable organization of their choice.
Volunteer Activities
Through our philanthropic partners, we promote and share team and individual volunteer opportunities such as charity walks and runs; renewal projects; food; , clothing; , blood drives; and paint/home building projects.
Charitable Gift Matching
Team members’ personal charitable donations can be doubled with a company match of up to $5,000 per year.
Volunteer Recognition
Once a quarter, team members are invited to nominate colleagues for a volunteer recognition award from our parent company, Masco. The winning volunteer’s charitable organization is awarded a $5000 donation in their name.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Grants
We partner with nonprofit organizations that seek to eliminate biases for underserved or historically underrepresented individuals; advance minority representation in a specific field; develop inclusive workplaces and communities; and/or offer education, jobs training, and employment initiatives for underrepresented populations. Our partners include OC Human Relations; Girls Inc. chapters in Orange County, CA and Tarrant County, TX; SoLa I Can Foundation; Fund for Racial Justice and Equity with United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley; and Working Wardrobes/Vet Net.
Behr’s partnership with Fresh Artists goes back almost 10 years. Fresh Artists delivers art supplies and innovative art programs to severely underfunded, low-income public schools in all 50 states, supporting underserved children, 88% of whom are children of color.
Behr donates obsolete paint chips, otherwise destined for a landfill, which are then transformed into brilliant artwork through Fresh Artists’ innovative “Chip Art” self-portrait art program, impacting more than 300,000 students to date. Through their Young Philanthropists Program, children are invited to donate their artwork to “go to work” to help other children.
Behr’s grants support the delivery of this ground-breaking art educational tool currently offered in both virtual and in-school teaching environments. Adam Aquino, Behr’s plant manager in Allentown, PA, is a long-term volunteer and member of their board of trustees.
Housing Grants
Community Development Grants
We support community programs that foster prosperity, allowing our communities and team members to thrive. Our partners include United Way, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Allentown Rescue Mission, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.
City of Hope. With a partnership extending more than 25 years, our commitment to City of Hope runs deep. Behr team members support City of Hope through corporate and employee donations, assorted employee fundraisers, blood drives, and annual golf events. Behr is also a long-term sponsor of the Survivor’s Pavilion at City of Hope’s annual Walk for Hope event.
Reflecting on Behr’s ongoing support for City of Hope, Behr President, Jeff Filley, said, “In the memory of those we have lost, those who are fighting cancer today, and those yet to be diagnosed, City of Hope continues its fight for better treatments, preventions, and cures.”
In-kind Product Donations
Every year, we donate thousands of gallons of paint products to charitable organizations throughout the US. Oftentimes, these donations are coordinated with a team event, where Behr team members help with painting projects. Recipients include Child Creativity Lab, HomeAid Colorado, LGBTQ Center OC, Sunshine on a Ranney Day, and New Mexico Veterans Memorial.
Behr was honored to sponsor the Maya Angelou Mural Festival in collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Using donated Behr paint, 30 artists were commissioned to paint a series of murals throughout the Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School during a one-week span.
SUPPLIER DIVERSITY
Through our supplier diversity program, we aspire to build a bench of suppliers that reflects both our consumer base and team member base. To that end, we’re increasing our partnerships with businesses that are at least 51% owned and operated by an individual or group that is part of a historically underrepresented or underserved community (e.g., minorities, women, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+, veterans).
SUSTAINABILITY
Being a good corporate citizen is a part of who we are, and we constantly look for ways to make positive, sustainable changes. We continue to make efforts to reduce our own carbon footprint and improve our operational performance in ways that respect our environment.
This includes areas like manufacturing sustainable coating products that are verified to meet UL Greenguard® certification, MPI Green Performance™ Standard, or both; reducing our impact on water resources in manufacturing processes; and setting annual goals to reduce electricity, trash, and waste.
