WE ARE COMMITTED

Our Behr team members are a mosaic of visible and invisible characteristics, including backgrounds, skill sets, perspectives, and experiences. We celebrate this diversity and strive to build a culture of equity and inclusion. To us, that means a culture where every team member…

is treated fairly and has an equal opportunity to develop to full potential

has a sense of belonging and feels safe to speak up and take calculated risks

is free to be authentic and feels respected and valued for their uniqueness

“When we create an environment where every individual feels respected, valued, and a sense of belonging, that’s when they can truly bring their best selves to work, be better teammates, maximize their contributions to the team, our organization and their communities.

My entire leadership team and I are committed to listening and learning on our journey toward greater inclusion and equity for all.” jeff-img-mb

The collective work of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is continuous and ever-changing, and there is no finish line. What’s more, it’s a job shared by all at Behr—from our DEI Council, to our senior leaders, to our managers, and to our team members at large.

DEI COUNCIL

Our Council consists of team members, representing all major departments, and is diverse on many dimensions: job level, tenure, age, background, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, and gender. What Council members all share is a passion for Behr and for DEI.

The Council's primary role is to:

“I joined the DEI Council as I was looking for a way to contribute to DEI initiatives in my everyday life, and this was such a direct way to be involved, I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by."

“I joined the DEI Council as I was looking for a way to contribute to DEI initiatives in my everyday life, and this was such a direct way to be involved, I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by.

I’ve had the amazing opportunity to serve as co-chair of the Council and be directly involved in turning ideas into actions alongside our council members. This has been an invaluable opportunity to learn about others’ perspectives and consider how we encourage more conversation on these topics to foster understanding and empathy.

The DEI forums and open roundtable discussions brought people together. The stories and open sharing helped connect us to each other in a personal way. Each person’s story was unique, yet there was always so much to relate to. We were able to find common ground outside of our professional lives which will make us a stronger team and company.”

“I chose to join the DEI Council because, as a gay man, I wanted to make sure that everyone feels the same acceptance that I have experienced at Behr.”

“I chose to join the DEI Council because, as a gay man, I wanted to make sure that everyone feels the same acceptance that I have experienced at Behr. I have never had to pretend to be someone that I am not and have felt comfortable being open and honest about myself without the fear of discrimination or of impeding my growth and development.

The work of the DEI Council has enabled team members to talk openly about issues that they have faced. I learned of their struggles and how the actions this council takes can help to shed light on these issues. This has encouraged others to feel more comfortable in sharing their stories and struggles, and helped them realize they are not alone and can reach out for help.”

“I joined the DEI Council to extend myself professionally beyond my sales role. Serving on the DEI council is like visiting 15+ offices at one time!”

“I joined the DEI Council to extend myself professionally beyond my sales role. Serving on the DEI council is like visiting 15+ offices at one time! I am able to strategize and collaborate with different team members from various backgrounds, ethnicities, life experiences, tenure, and departments all over the US. It is refreshing to have dynamic conversations with individuals where we can objectively brainstorm and generate content that fosters belonging at Behr.

On a personal level, my work on the council has helped me find my true purpose— helping to foster diverse, equitable and inclusive workspaces to encourage innovation and well-being.”
