How to Stain an End Table with BEHR® Water-Based Stain & Poly In One

Got an old end table that needs a new beginning? We can help. BEHR® Water-Based Stain & Poly In One makes it easier than ever to do-it-yourself.

For Best Results:

Start your interior stain project by cleaning the surface and lightly sanding the wood.

  1. Step 1

To prep the surface, gently sand the wood with a sanding block and 220 grit sandpaper, then give it a wipe with a lint-free cloth to remove all dust.

  2. Step 2

Apply a thin coat following the direction of the wood grain, making sure to keep a “wet” edge.

  3. Step 3

Lightly sand the surface once more with 220 grit sandpaper and wipe away the dust with a lint-free cloth.

  4. Step 4

After applying a second coat, let it dry for a couple more hours.
