How to Paint a Cabinet Door
Painting a cabinet door is a simple way to bring new life into your kitchen. We will walk you through the best way to do it with a few simple steps.

For Best Results:
Take the time to properly clean and prepare your cabinet doors. Removing all the dust and grime is essential to achieve the desired results. Depending on what colour you are painting over, you may need to apply a coat of primer first.
Suggested Tools & Supplies

Drop Cloth

Brush (50-65mm / 2"-2½")

Sandpaper (150-220 Grit)

Step 1Grab your tools.

Step 2To get started, clean your cabinet doors to make sure that all dust and grime is gone.

Step 3Using a block sander, sand in a back and forth motion, moving with the grain of the wood.

Step 4Wipe off the excess dust.
TIP: If your cabinets are new, you’ll want to use a coat of primer.

Step 5Start painting with the grain, starting in the middle and move out toward the edges.
TIP: To ensure that the color is as rich as possible, consider adding a second coat.

Step 6Repeat for the remaining doors.
